My name is Scott and I grew up in Wisconsin attended the University in Madison where I studied Sociology & Criminal Justice. I earned the nickname Scooter while in college competing in triathlons, marathons and ultra-marathons. I would scoot with an efficient gait running up to 103 miles in 24 hours. I had then garnered an interest in Adventure Based Counselling with applications of Experiential Education.
After college I used my degree as an Outward Bound instructor for the Voyageur Outward Bound School (VOBS) in NE Minnesota also working the famous Widjiwagan/N Woods Resource Center on Burnside Lake. VOBS used expeditionary canoeing, ropes courses, whitewater kayaking and rock-climbing metaphorically for transference to daily life.
I have worked at the highest levels in outdoor recreation and Search & Rescue(SAR). I had been a lead kayak/canoe instructor in Jackson Hole, Ski instructor in Tahoe, Ski patrol for the last 2 N. American Olympics, Mountaineering ranger on Denali, SAR team member/Field Safety Training for the US Antarctic Program.
Eventually I made it to Maui in 2004 where my family has been coming since 1976. I now work full time as a County of Maui lifeguard.
